Where the data comes from
Texas TDLR, Florida DBPR, Washington L&I, Oregon CCB, NYC DCWP and Connecticut DCP.
What do you check?
For each license: whether it's active, its expiry date and its status (suspended, revoked, inactive). In Washington and Oregon we also check the bond and liability insurance on file with the state; in Texas, the insurance on file for tow companies and vehicle storage facilities.
When do I hear from you?
Every Monday, even when nothing changed, so you have a dated record. Licenses expiring within 60 days, anything no longer active and any bond or insurance ending within 30 days are listed at the top.
How do I send my list?
Your welcome email has a private link. Paste lines like TX, 12345 or FL, CGC1512345, or upload a CSV. Use the same link to change your list any time.
Which licenses are covered?
Contractor and business licenses in Texas (TDLR), Florida (DBPR construction and electrical), Washington (L&I), Oregon (CCB), New York City (DCWP) and Connecticut (DCP). The table above lists the types.
How current is it?
We pull each state's file every week. Most agencies update their files daily; New York City updates less often. Every report shows each file's date.
Can I watch my employees' licenses?
No. License Watch is for the businesses you hire or buy from. It isn't a consumer reporting agency and can't be used to screen employees or for any decision about an individual's employment, credit, insurance or housing.
Is this a replacement for collecting certificates of insurance?
No. We report what the state has on file. Keep collecting certificates where your contracts require them.
What if a number doesn't match?
Your summary lists every line we couldn't match and why. Fix it and send the corrected lines with your link.
How do I cancel?
Anytime, from the customer portal link in every email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for.
